 ** Secretarial practices (Basic skill programme - Craftsmen Training Scheme):-- 

Objective of the course - to prepare trainees for employment in Secretarial positions. 

Trainee Entry level - pass in Matriculation or 12th class examination of 10+2 system or equivalent with 50% or higher marks in English. 

Course Duration - One year full time course 

Course Contents :- Course coverage includes shorthand, typewriting, Secretarial services, General English & Business Correspondence, and General Knowledge &  current affairs.  

Trainee Exit Level :- On completion of the course, the trainees are expected to be able to  

  • take dictation @ 80 wpm in shorthand;
  • type @ 30 wpm, display letter, manuscript & simple tabulation;
  • perform other secretarial duties like attending calls, filing & mailing, and operate various office machines. 

The workshop, developed for this course, is equipped with electronic typewriter, manual typewriter, portable typewriter, duplicating machine tape recorders, etc.  

 ** Secretarial practices (Advanced skill programme):- 

Objective of the course - to impart trainees the skill and knowledge they require to get gainful employment as Personal secretaries to Senior level executives and maintain a high standard of performance in all the skills of a good secretary. 

Trainee Entry level - candidates who have successfully undertaken a basic skill course (NCVT approved)  in Secretarial Practices/Stenography or qualifies with a speed of 80 wpm in shorthand & 30 wpm in typing. 

Course Duration - Eight months  full time course; 

Course Contents :- Course coverage includes shorthand, typewriting, Secretarial services, General English & Business Correspondence, Computer operations.  The training in this course includes on-the-job- attachment of 4 weeks in any private or public sector.  

Trainee Exit Level :- On completion of the course, the trainees are expected to be able to  

  • take dictation @ 100/120 wpm in shorthand; 
  • type @ 40 wpm & display letter, manuscript & tabulation; 
  • Handle electronic typewriter and personal computer;
  • perform other secretarial duties like attending to visitor, telephone calls, filing & mailing, and arranging meetings. 
  • operating various office machines like photocopier, duplicating  machines, fax, telex, franking machine, scanner, PABX system.

The workshop, developed for this course, is equipped with office machines like photocopier, duplicating  machines, fax, telex, franking machine, scanner, PABX system; electronic, manual & portable typewriter,  tape recorders, Dictaphones, Computers etc.
